The Colorado River from the Navajo Bridge at Marble Canyon .adjacent to Vermillion Cliffs. The bridge is 467 feet above the river. Just to the north is Lees Ferry.

Lees Ferry, where rafts are put into the Colorado River for the white water trip through the Grand Canyon. Rafts are taken out here from the mild rafting trip down from Page AZ..

The sign. Rainbow Bridge has been a natl. monument since 1910. Lake Powell was formed by the Glen Canyon Dam which was built in the late 50's and early 60's. Then it took 17 years to fill up the lake.

The "Rainbow Bridge". This is considered a sacred site by the indians.

The "Desert Shadow", the newest tour boat on Lake Powell enters the canyon leading to the Rainbow Bridge. It left Wahweap Lodge 1 hour after us and will return 1 hour before us as we are on an extended 7 hour tour.

As our boat squeaks through the narrow Cascade Canyon, an inquisitive sort trys to follow in a much smaller boat. After bouncing off the wall they decided to leave.

The captain was on the bow, kicking off the sidewalls of the canyon. The passengers on the roof kept handing him their cameras to take their picture.

After we stopped at the Dangling Rope Marina to drop off the mail, we caught up with the southbound towboat and three barges.

The towboat was pushing two barges with empty reefers and an empty gasoline barge. Sometimes it will be pushing garbage compactors, as everything comes in and goes out via barge.

UP6318 with an assortment of NS, CSX, and an unknown switcher head toward Las Vegas at the Junction of I-15 and US 93.

The same consist. The switcher could possibly belong to the Moapa Power Plant just north.

UP8264 is ready to depart from Yermo CA yard enroute to Las Vegas. Yermo is just north east of Barstow.

Eastbound BNSF hot intermodal just west of Barstow.

UP maintainence of the way equipment was brought into Tehacapi CA by rail..

BNSF 4354 is 3/4 of the way around the curve.

Yes! The perfect "Loop" shot. BNSF 4354 goes over his own train. This was the only train that was long enough to do it while we were visitng.

BNSF 4832 climbs toward the "Loop" with a steel coil train. I wonder if it came from Pittsburg CA?

BNSF 4354 rounds the last curve before heading through Techacapi CA. The summit is not far and it will be all down hill into Mojave. Unfortunately those UP dispatchers will cause this train and BNSF 4832 to spend a long time sitting on the downhill side.
