BC RAIL
Squamish Steam Train
On September 17, 2000 BC Rail’s Engine # 3716 was filling in for the “Royal Hudson” which is in the shop for repairs.
Engine 3716 coming through West Vancouver
enroute to Squamish.
Beginning its return trip the train
departs Squamish
Skirting Howe Sound, the Royal
Hudson consists enters Porteau Cove.
Railfans watch as a “hi-railer”
prepares to provide a security escort for a VIP train.
A Canadian National executive train
enroute to Whistler comes through Brunswick Beach.
As the Royal Hudson consist
approaches on the passing track.
Bringing up the rear is a CN Theatre
Car, as the Royal Hudson heads back to Vancouver.
And off to the good life at Whistler
go the V.I.P’s
Note: I’m not really sure where the executive train was heading, but Whistler seems like a good guess. There were some present who thought the train was making a grand inspection tour of all of Canada, and would be going to Prince George on BC Rail and then heading east.
